ABOUT US
Imagine women leaders from all over the world, creating significance and impact, like the World Economic Forum (WEF) does, but with a different style. When Silvana Koch-Mehrin, Founder & president of Women Political Leaders (WPL), and Hanna Birna Kristjansdottir, Chair of the Board of Women Political Leaders (WPL) at the time, experienced the WEF in January 2017, the concept of Reykjavik Global Forum was born. They were convinced that Iceland, the leading country for gender equality (according to the WEF’s Global Gender Gap Report), would be the perfect location for a Reykjavík Global Forum, bringing together women leaders from all sectors, public & private.

The Reykjavik Global Forum became a reality in 2018 when the first forum was co-hosted in Reykjavik with the Government and Parliament of Iceland.

In recent years, the Reykjavík Global Forum has grown from an annual event into an active community with year-round activities focusing on impactful initiatives to address key issues and further advance women's influence and power.

The Reykjavík Global Community includes Presidents, Ministers, Parliamentarians, and leaders from business, academia, civil society, arts, and media, gathered to engage in conversations on how to take action globally. These women are vital leaders in their respective fields, sharing ideas, insights, and experiences to address some of the most critical and compelling topics confronting the world today.

The Reykjavík Global Community, a diverse, action-oriented network of 12,000+ trailblazing women leaders and their allies working to empower more women to attain & retain power.
